My name is Jacob (Jake) Brand, and I will be teaching 9-12 Special Education while assisting with HS Volleyball. I was raised in Homer, Nebraska (pop. 528), a small town in Northeast Nebraska. My dad, Darrin, is the Branch Manager/Loan Officer for First Community Bank in Homer, and my mom, Amy, is the District Secretary for Homer Community Schools. My little sister, Maya, is at Western Iowa Tech CC in Sioux City, IA pursuing a degree in Nursing (she wants to be a nurse in the Psych/Behavioral Health Ward). A newer addidtion to the family is Oliver, Maya's 10-month-old Goldendoodle, who will definitely miss Uncle Jake. I attended Homer Community Schools from Kindergarden through high school and participated in Basketball, Track and Field, National Honor Society, and Student Council. I graduated in 2015.
After high school, I attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. While at Morningside, I was a double major in Special Education and American History/Government Teaching, I was a 4-year starter for the Men's Volleyball team, a 3-year captain, and a Student Assistant for the Women's Volleyball program. I was also involved in numerous Education clubs, and two National Honor Societies: Kappa Delta Pi, honor society in Education, and Phi Alpha Theta, honor society in History. I graduated in May of 2019.
As I look forward to my first year of teaching, I am excited to start building relationships with the students, faculty, administration, and the Lakeview community!
