Alex Heard

Douglas "Alex" Heard- I teach Life Skills at Lakeview Junior Senior High School and typically work with students who have significant academic and/or functional needs. I joined the Lakeview Community School district for the 2017-2018 school year. My name is Douglas but I will always introduce myself as Alex, my middle name, which I have went by since I was a child. I grew up in Auburn, Nebraska, a small town in the southeast corner of the state. I am one of 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls.

After high school, I continued my academic career at Wayne State College where I graduated with a degree in K-12 Special Education in May of 2016 and met my beautiful wife. I spent the 2016-2017 school year as a 5th grade inclusive/Self-Contained Behavior teacher at Omaha Nation Public Schools in Macy, NE. I got engaged on Easter of 2017 and me and my now wife and our ever growing family decided to make the move to Columbus, as she was graduating from college and had accepted a 2nd grade position at Emerson Elementary. We moved to Columbus in May of 2017 and have enjoyed our time here very much.

My wife, Kayla, my daughter Sophia, my son Oliver, my son Theodore and I enjoy time outside in the summer playing golf, boating, fishing, and spending time with old friends. We also enjoy a cozy Netflix binge, watching Cornhuskers, RedSox, and Raiders atheltics,  and cooking!

We are so happy to be a part of the Columbus community and look forward to growing our family and our community ties. Go Vikings!
