December Board Report

Lakeview FFA Update

December 2019

December Chapter Meeting

Our monthly meeting for the month of December was held on December 6th at 6:30 pm. Members kicked off the meeting by enjoying a meal of pizza with each other. All were then given an update on the scheduling changes involving district LDEs. Additionally we discussed the community service for the month, and then kicked it off. Members then made Christmas cards to be handed out to elderly in nursing homes, as part of the community service.

Poinsettia Delivery

Poinsettias for the 2018 sale were delivered to the greenhouse on Wednesday the 5th. FFA members worked hard to organize them and are currently taking great care of them. The poinsettias are ready for pick-up, but some will be delivered by the officer team. If anyone is interested in a poinsettia and did not order one, please contact Miss Ripp of any of the officer team members.

Greenhouse Improvements

The Lakeview FFA greenhouse has recently been undergoing tremendous renovations. The front three-fourths of the floor are now cement with two drains installed, and plans are underway to make an in-ground planting area in the back. The roof was also recently replaced and has made a great difference already. The grow towers and aquaponics system are now up and running and should be providing fresh produce soon.

LDE Contest

The district leadership development events were held on December 10th at Lakeview. This event entailed contests such as parliamentary procedure, employability skills, and speaking events. Members competed in the events beginning at 1:30 that afternoon. The Lakeview FFA chapter would like to extend a huge thank you to anyone who helped this event run smoothly, especially the Alumni. State qualifiers will continue to practice for State Convention, held in April.

Fruit Sales

Fruit sale orders were delivered to Lakeview the morning of December 11th. Chapter members and the officers, as well as several volunteer parents, helped to unload, organize, and seperate the delivery. This was quite a great feat and it would not have been possible without everyone’s help. Members will be delivering their orders starting on the 11th. Thank you to all who supported the FFA chapter through this fundraiser.
