Lakeview FFA Update
January Chapter Meeting
On the morning of January 17th, the FFA Chapter held its monthly meeting. Members met and shared ideas regarding upcoming FFA Week, community service ideas, and chapter activities. The officers provided a brief overview of the next month. Additionally, we discussed Career Development Events and how members can sign up for one and begin practicing
District Livestock Judging
District Livestock Judging contest was held on January 24th. The Lakeview FFA Chapter sent 13 members to compete. Lakeview brought home top honors, with both the Senior and Junior teams winning their divisions. Individual results are as follows: Senior: Evan Tessendorf 2nd, Jose De La Cruz 3rd, Cadge Janssen 9th, Jacob Frenzen 17th, andCody Schaad 37th; Junior: Abigail Lutjelusche 1st, Jaycee Schomberg 2nd, Eli Osten 6th, Ella Meyer 8th, Alex Hinze 15th, Makiaya De La Cruz 18th, Zach Anderson 24th, and Carly Schaad 28th.
Proficiency Reviews and State Degree Interviews
Proficiency Applications and State Degree Interviews were held on the 1st of February. The Lakeview Chapter submitted eight Proficiency Applications, all of which received a silver of higher, except one, with three progressing to state. Nine chapter members interviewed for their state degrees on the first as well.
National FFA Week
National FFA Week will run February 18- 22. The chapter officers have been hard at work planning an exciting week. Member suggestions played a large part in planning the week. Dress up day themes are Tuesday: Blue & Gold Out, Wednesday: Animal or Farmer, Thursday: Chapter T-shirts, and Friday: Flannel. Each day has a Viking Time activity planned as well, including cornhole knockout, tug of war, marshmallow drop, and ag olympics. Additionally, the chapter will run elementary visits, educating students about agriculture, a canned food drive, drive your tractor to school day, and an FFA Breakfast.
